Thing #13
OK, I am on Twitter. I am following some people. I feel like a spy. Not sure if this is something I will use or not. Maybe if I knew of others that were on it I might like it. Not sure if I really want to know every move people are making. I was just doing some random searching and found tweets where people are just talking about going to the store or standing in line. I really need useful information. I signed up to follow a few people so I will see what they are doing. I think that this could be useful, however I just don't see a need right now. There are too many other online tools that I have been using so I'm not sure how much I will use this one. Let me just wait and see.

Thing #12
Library Thing can be a fun site if I really thought I might use it. I'm not really big on keeping books after I read them. I think one use would be for display purposes for libraries. You would be able to keep track of books that were displayed in the library at different times. Keeping track of books I have read would be interesting, however I usually remember which books I've already read. I would like to try using it on my phone sometime to check from a bookstore. I can think of a lot of other technology tools that I would use and have more fun using them. I created a Library Thing account about a year ago and found that I haven't gone back to it since.

Thing #11
Posting on technology. Where to start, where to stop. Everyday I learn something new about technology. I have really enjoyed learning the 23 things, however I wonder how much I should be using and what will be obsolete soon. Flickr is a fun tool to use to get my pictures all in one place but what happens when Flickr is gone. New technologies take the place of older ones everyday. I know that you are supposed to back up everything you do and not rely on one thing working all the time. Then I still have the same question. First I backed up to floppy disc, they are gone now. Then I backup to CD or DVD. Then I'm told to backup to flash drives. What is the new technology. Should I be backing up to online storage. What happens when that is gone. I have so many questions about the safety of where you store your files. I know that if there was a fire in my home all of my pictures would be gone anyway. I know I think way too much.
So I will post about fun things with technology that I have done so far. RSS feeds, WOW do I really like them. I am learning to get rid of the feeds that I don't really read and only keep the ones that have some value to me. When I first started with RSS every site I went to I would look for the little symbol that told me I could add this to my reader, you guessed it. click, click click another feed. So then I opened my reader up and 1,000 or more feeds, (way to many). So I asked myself, Is this important do you need to know this. If I answered no I would just get rid of it. Now I'm down to a little bit more manageable tool. Just as it was meant to be.
Back to flickr, I use Picasa and already have several thousand pictures loaded on Picasa, however I find I like flickr a little better. I wish I could find a way to transfer my pictures from Picasa to flickr. If not I will just continue to use Picasa. Famliy and friends are having fun looking at our Disneyland pictures and I now find myself taking more pictures then ever before. I really like the tagging feature so I can find pictures quickly and even if all of the pictures I want are in different folders I can still locate them by using tags. I would also like to link my Picasa pictures to my blog so I can get to everything from one site. I know that I should be able to I just need to look into it a little more. More technology for me to learn.
Well I think I carried on long enough. Like I said in the begining of this post. Where to start and where to stop. I really hope I don't have to stop and that with all of the new changes happening in technology I will not stop learning after the 23 things and continue until I learn as much as possible about these tools. I know that I keep saying learning about technology, however I really think this is the funnest time I have ever had learning something new.

thing #8
Flickr is pretty cool. I have been using Google Picasa. Yes, I am a google fan. I also have a flickr account I just didn't know it had so many uses. I decided to see how many poodle pics I could find. There were a lot of them. I really liked this one. It shows how creative someone can be with a little imagination. I really don't think I would be able to look at a cloud and see a poddle. I changed my original Thing 8 post because I found out I linked my picture wrong. So here is try #2.

Thing #9

This is my attempt at Thing #9. I really have been having fun with looking at all of the different tools that can be used. I thought I should probably post something and get on with the next thing. I think with all of the different things I can be trying out It will take me 5 years to get to all 23 things. I'm sure in just a short time there will be so much more I will need to learn. Not sure yet why I would use this it just seemed like a fun thing to do.

Thing 8 part 2
This is a picture of a Rose that was sent. I just thought the bloom was so perfect I wanted to capture it in a picture. I know the picture really doesn't do it justice. Would it be nice if everything in life would smell and look just like a rose. However, in life we know that it's not always the surface that gets you it's whats underneath that can cause the pain.

Thing #7
I have really enjoyed searching for new RSS feeds. I need to stop or I will have so many there will be no way I can keep up with them all. I found one using Google Blog Search call "Go Local Nebraska" (I already new about the blog I just found it on Google Blog Search) using key words. I also found a blog about the city of La Vista using Topix. This one is really good. I will now have to use Google Reader more often. What a great tool!!!
Thing #6
I have been using GoogleReader for a little while now and it's seems to do what I want it to do. Now I just need to start using it more. I think it will be very nice just to go to one place to get all of the news I want very quickly. I think my biggest problem will be subscribing to way to many sites.

The Great thing about IM
I just spent some time chatting with Allana from the Commission. Chatting is a nice way to communicate with people when you need to just say a few things. I use chat a lot to talk with family out of state. It's free and we can be online as long as we want. I also found that I can chat and still get other things done on the computer. I would like to set up a Meebo account and use it for Reference questions here at the library. I think it would be a great tool. I know the UNO Criss Library is using Meebo and it seems to work great. It's a fast easy way to get the answer you need. I have been using GoogleTalk and so far haven't had any issues with it. I would like to use it more in my professional life, not just my personal life.

Importance of Learning
I am very excited to be learning 2.0, as the technology librarian, it is very important for me to keep current on new technologies. It is very important that I know the technologies that are available so I am better prepared to help the users that come into the library. This is one of the reason I chose to complete the 23 things because the more I know the better prepared I will be to help the library customers.
My learning Goals
I sometimes have a difficult time of getting things completed on time. Usually not work related things just things I need to get done for me. For instance instead of taking 1 week to paint my basement I stretched it out to be more like 3 weeks. So my goal for Learning 2.0 is not only to complete on time, I would really like to complete a little ahead of schedule.
